Good News Retreats was set up in January 2018. There are three of us, Dave Fitton, Cath Duffy and James Allerton.

Dave holds a degree and professional accreditation in Youth and Community Work and Applied Theology. He has worked for many years in youth ministry for the Church and as a Sixth Form College chaplain.

Cath has worked in Catholic secondary schools for many years as an RE teacher and for nine years as a lay chaplain. She has a wealth of experience in providing opportunities that support the spiritual development of children and young people. Cath is an active member of St Joseph’s parish, Stockport.

James is a music specialist who has experience of working in a retreat centre (St Cassian’s Kintbury) and for the past few years has been working in several schools in Stockport offering support with hymn practice and liturgies, as well as some classroom teaching, and new roles with Stockport Music Service.

Dave and James both contribute to the music ministry at St Peter’s Roman Catholic Parish in Hazel Grove.

Our aim is to bring fresh ways of communicating the Good News of God’s love to primary and secondary schools that complement both the RE curriculum and sacramental preparation programmes.
